Industrial agriculture has prioritized yield, efficiency, and scale, creating an abundance of widely available food, but also contributing to depleted ecosystems, water scarcity, economic fragility, excessive greenhouse gases, depressed communities, and cultural disconnection from the land.
To address these compounding challenges, we catalyze regenerative market systems to nourish all life. We convene and work with farmers, processors, companies, certifiers, retailers, nonprofits, investors, and communities to see the whole of the system and the effects of each of our actions. Then we redesign business models and partner with the power of markets to support farmer-led designs that emerge from place and foster ecological and cultural diversity.
Our projects begin with key crops and places, and client and systemic needs.
We ground our work in the uniqueness of each farm, bioregion, and crop, designing with local culture, ecology, and economy. We:
An innovative California almond farm is reimagining what diversified almond production can look like by integrating sheep, elderberry, agave, olives, and more to improve ecosystem health, biodiversity, water resilience, and soil vitality.
We’re partnering with the farm to develop the sourcing relationships and business models needed to diversify the farm and elevate this model as a viable, place-based alternative to conventional monoculture.
We’re seeking sourcing partners and product developers aligned with long-term ecological and cultural value, not short-lived market trends, to bring this ecosystem-based model to life.
In partnership with Jungle Project, we’re building a regenerative breadfruit economy rooted in agroforestry systems in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Breadfruit offers a high-yield, climate-resilient, and nutrient-rich alternative to staple crops, with the potential to regenerate tropical ecosystems and strengthen local food sovereignty. The Breadfruit Ecosystem is leading the diversification of monocultured banana and cacao systems, replacing extractive models with biodiverse agroforestry that restores ecological health and economic resilience.
reNourish Studio is co-designing the Breadfruit Economy Ecosystem, a systems-level initiative that connects farmers, processors, and market actors through aligned business models, shared value systems, and regenerative enterprise strategy.
We’re inviting funders, sourcing partners, and food innovators to join us in co-creating this regenerative supply system that nourishes communities, ecosystems, and global markets through a new kind of staple food economy.
From 2022 to 2025, we convened 33 leaders from across the food system, including businesses, nonprofits, and investors, to explore how agricultural economies can evolve to truly nourish life. This multi-year cohort created space to examine deep-rooted paradigms and reimagine business through a regenerative lens.
reNourish Studio designed and led a developmental learning environment grounded in living systems thinking. We guided participants in rethinking sourcing, strategy, business models, company culture, and leadership through practices rooted in place, culture, and ecology. The cohort convened three times a year for a weekend in-person all over the United States and Mexico, and several times a month on Zoom for three years.
This cohort laid the foundation for a growing community of regenerative practitioners. If you’re interested in future cohorts or in bringing this work into your organization, we’d love to connect.
This initiative brings together farmers, food brands, and funders to develop new financial and economic models that support regenerative food businesses. In a market that rewards consolidation and scale, small farms and emerging CPG brands committed to regeneration are struggling to survive, let alone thrive.
We aim to convene producers, brands, and investors to co-create funding strategies and business models that align with regenerative values, enabling authentic, place-based food systems to compete in today’s market.
We’re calling on funders who want to partner directly with farmers and brands to co-design market-based solutions that make regeneration viable, scalable, and investable.
The California Cotton and Climate Coalition (C4) brought together farmers, researchers, cotton gins, merchants, textile mills, designers and brands to create a new agronomic and textile system for producing Climate Beneficial™ cotton in California. The initiative began by exploring how brands based in California could support a bioregional cotton production and product manufacturing system that restores soil health, increases carbon sequestration, enhances biodiversity, strengthens rural economies, and establishes transparent, farm-forward supply chains.
As a founding member of C4, reNourish Studio served as convener, collaborator, strategist, and market engager. In partnership with Fibershed, reNourish Studio helped align stakeholders across the cotton supply system to invest in this transformative production model. We recruited brand partners, united diverse stakeholders, co-designed regenerative supply systems, developed economic models, and built market pathways. We facilitated collaborative sessions that fostered learning, trust, and innovative partnerships across production, processing, manufacturing, and marketing.
C4’s work continues under Fibershed’s Climate Beneficial Verification program. Funders, brands, and farming partners interested in participating or learning more about Climate Beneficial cotton can connect directly with Fibershed to explore current opportunities and initiatives.
