CROSSING THE

THRESHOLD

A Food Integrity Retreat

TULUM, MEXICO

February 2-6, 2027

Join The Non-GMO Project and reNourish Studio in Tulum, Mexico for an immersive leadership retreat that brings food system leaders together to meet this moment of disruption and evolution.

We’ll deepen who we are as leaders and grow our collective capacity for inner work and effective collaboration, in service to developing food systems rooted in agency and flourishing rather than consolidation and extraction.

Why this gathering,
why now

Food integrity has never mattered more, and as leaders shaping the future of our food system, we need more than strategy; we need an unprecedented capacity to lead through disruption. We’re at a choice point: will our food system continue to concentrate power and constrain choice, or evolve toward greater agency, integrity, and access?

This gathering is a leadership development retreat: an invitation to pause, be honest about what isn’t working, and deepen who we are as leaders in service of food systems rooted in agency and flourishing rather than consolidation and extraction.

Expect a mix of the practical and the profound: leadership and personal development work, concrete strategies for food system evolution, physical practices, ceremony, and good food, alongside honest conversation about the work ahead. Our hope is that everyone leaves regenerated, nourished, and better equipped to lead into the future.

Leadership Development

We’ll build the strategic and personal capabilities to lead effectively through unprecedented times, examining the beliefs and philosophies behind our decisions and choosing new ones where needed.

Embodiment and self-carE

Rest, rejuvenation, and getting into our bodies will balance our meetings and strategy work.

Inner work in service of outer work

Personal development isn’t separate from systems evolution. Growing ourselves and growing the food system are the same work. We build the internal capacities that increase the effectiveness of our leadership.

Collective

Strategy

We will work together on strategies that restore agency throughout the food system, from protecting seed sovereignty and expanding access to nourishing food, to strengthening every person’s ability to choose how they participate in and are nourished by the food system.

Ceremony and ritual

We will engage in rituals to reawaken our connection to the living world and remind us of the magic in the mundane. We’ll connect with the Riviera Maya as a unique culture and place and leave inspired with how we can collaborate with all places uniquely.

Relationship
building

Community is essential to evolving systems and working in new ways; we will leave with new relationships: people we can call on, collaborate with, and be in relationship with long after the retreat ends.

about the
RETREAT VENUE

Nestled in the jungle just outside the coastal town of Tulum, the retreat center, Amaite Retreat, offers a true immersion in the natural world and regional culture. The center partners with the local community, bringing local chefs to prepare our meals and healers to guide therapies and ceremonial work. We will take several trips to Tulum’s beach, which is only fifteen minutes away.

  • Our shared accommodations are geodesic domes which let you sleep under the stars, with the jungle canopy as your ceiling. Domes have air conditioning and WiFi.
  • Much of our time together will be spent outside, in an immersive jungle setting, in contact with nature and the open air.
  • A fresh groundwater cenote sits at the heart of the property to swim in throughout our time together.

  • Early February in Tulum is warm and dry, with daytime highs around 81°F (27°C) and evenings cooling to a comfortable 71°F (22°C), ideal weather for gathering outdoors.

About
the hosts

‍We’ve spent decades in the food and agriculture industries working across nonprofits, for-profits, and the entire value chain, from producers to customers. What’s become clear is that it’s not our businesses holding us back from a truly regenerative food system – it’s the system itself and our understanding of how to build the excitement and shared purpose of how to shift it. This is why the heart of our work is supporting food business leaders, nonprofits, and farmers to evolve their businesses and work to play a role in changing the way our food system operates.

We work with businesses, organizations, and networks through organizational development and strategy consulting, convening groups to regenerate a place or cropping system together, and hosting retreats and courses.

reNourish Studio is rooted in Eastern and Western philosophy, informed by quantum theory, and grounded in the belief that humans are inseparable from the living world. Our teachers include Carol Sanford, Pamela Mang, and the Regenesis Institute for Regenerative Practice. We apply regenerative business and development principles to evolving the food system, drawing on our experience in regenerative agriculture, market development, tracking, permaculture, finance, herbalism, and earth-based spirituality.
